DJ Fortee, real name Katlego Tigele is a self-taught DJ born in Pretoria, South Africa.
DJ Fortee started his career in 2005. Hanging around neighborhood friends who were DJs and learning all he could while playing at small events and parties. These early years had a huge impact on his growth.
Fast-forward to 2010, DJ Fortee began envisioning the party goers grooving to his own produced music. And he set out to teach himself the art of music production. His first big break as a producer was teaming up with DJ Choice on hit song “Ngoba” included on Choice’s 2012 album.
Now DJ Fortee has become a notable force as a DJ Producer within the Mzansi House arena, having worked with leading dance label House Afrika – employing his astutely musical take on afro and soulful- house sub-genres – DJ Fortee is now signed to his own record label Murmur MusiQ which is exclusively marketed and distributed through Sony Music Africa.

In 2012, DJ Fortee and vocalist “Komplexity” formed a duo named “KomFort Blendz” which released its debut bumper pack album titled “Keep Walking” under “House Afrika Sessions 3” in 2013. The bumper pack also featured the likes of ‘Brazo Wa Africa, Dvine Brothers, Problem Child and La Shad (RIP)’.
In August of 2014 DJ Fortee released his 1st Solo Double CD album titled “The Murmur” exposing contemporary sounds that fused a combination of ancestral and soulful house techniques. Inside, signing sensations like ‘Lady Zamar, Tiffany Rosebud (USA), Akhona, Royalty, Alexandra James and other talented artists/musicians performed amazing vocal settings that caught the ear of masses at first site.
In 2016, House Afrika released DJ Fortee’s second solo album titled “The Groove” with Sony Music, it set the tone moment it was dropped with anyone who previewed its content reacting positively. Particularly noting on the top charting single “Naughty Dance” leaving uncontrollable music lovers to move to its intoxicating groove.
July 13th 2018 Sony Music Africa announced the release of DJ Fortee’s first single of the year featuring Nigerian Afro- House Queen “Niniola” titled “Monini”. The single has topped SA’s weekly radio monitor chart in its first two weeks of release, being the number one most played song on SA radio.
